I don’t know about you, but I get really excited when I have my devotions and I get a thought that works on me all day long. Sometimes I get an extra thought or two from my hubby’s devotions. Without fail, every morning my hubby will say to me, “I had a great devotion this morning it was about….” At that point I know I better refill my coffee and take a seat because he can’t wait to share his devotions with me.
Since the new year started, I don’t think a day has gone by that I haven’t talked with someone who was in some way struggling in life. Just last night I was talking with someone who has had many obstacles to overcome the past few years. As I talked with her, she made the statement, “After you have one thing after another happen, you begin to wonder if God is even listening, is there or even cares.” Often when trials and burdens come, we can get so overwhelmed by the circumstances that we can’t see or focus on all the other things for which we can still be thankful. Sometimes the trials of life can be more than we feel we can possibly handle. That’s the most important time to dig deeper in God’s Word to find the promises that you need to claim, and often we can even see stories of how others have made it.
This morning after I read my Bible, I began praying for several people and was really burdened for a friend. I started sweeping my kitchen floor and was sweeping up dog hair and thinking of how much hair Bama is shedding right now. The dog hair got my attention, I immediately stopped and remembered a verse I just read this past week. What a great devotion it was!
I had been reading Matthew chapter 10 and a few years ago had written a few things down by verses 29-31, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” If God is in the details enough to be concerned about a sparrow that would fall to the ground, and to also have each of your hairs numbered, He’s definitely in the details of our lives. I love that the next verse immediately says, “Fear ye not therefore,…” God knows we need to be aware that He is there. He knows what you are going through. He wants to comfort you. He’s interested in how you feel, and He wants to help you fix things. The most important thing you can do is run to Him and allow Him to help you carry your problems. Some people become so overwhelmed that they make life seem worthless. As a Christian, we have so much for which to live and be thankful, even in the hard times.
God is in the details because He gave us so many verses that will help us through each and every situation that we go through. He left detailed verses that can be our source of love, encouragement, wisdom and security through all that comes our way.
