Often we feel distant from God and perhaps that He is no longer interested in our day to day routines. Perhaps we forsake the opportunity to speak to Him in prayer, read His word or attend His church not out of malice or ill will but simply because other things vie for our attention. Many times we come to the place that for one reason or another our relationship with God is a distant one at best.
The natural response is to shift the blame off ourselves and on to something else. Maybe a busy schedule has caused you to drift or just the daily grind of life has shifted your focus from the things of God. Whatever the case there is one thing for sure, we are the ones who move from God not the other way around.
There is a truth in the Bible known as the immutability of God. It is simply a fancy word meaning God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His power, patience, and personality are the same today as they were yesterday. He does not change. No matter how much the world around us changes He does not. He loves you now just as He did when He created you. He cares for you now just as much as He ever did. He wants what’s best for you yesterday, today and forever.
As busy people, we can get so caught up in our own lives and move ever so slowly away from the God who loves us and gave Himself for us but we must not fall for the illusion that He has somehow moved away from you. He is always there ready to comfort, encourage, challenge and uplift you. So the next time you feel distant from your Heavenly Father simply ask yourself this question, “who moved?”
