Most days, I would have to answer no. No, I don’t think we Christians really do. I have even had people tell me that it CANNOT happen because the bible doesn’t say it will. I don’t believe that! What if GOD is just WAITING for us to get serious!!! What if HE is just waiting for us to ASK for IT??! I don’t want to get to Heaven one day and hear GOD say “I had a revival right here and no one asked for it” That would be heartbreaking to hear!
Everyone is always complaining about how GOD isn’t doing anything, how bad the government is and how bad the world is. Revival has to begin in your own heart and in mine! Before revival can begin in any church or any town, it has to begin in the hearts of saved people! Many people don’t want revival. They are comfortable living a mediocre Christian life, just like everyone else. Well, I don’t know about you, but I want more, much more! I am sick of being a lazy Christian! I am sick of my pitiful prayer life! I want to see all of my loved ones, SAVED and SERVING the LORD with their lives! I want to see more saved men stepping up and becoming pastors and missionaries! Jesus is coming back soon and most people are NOT ready to meet HIM! We spend our time getting into debt, complaining about gas going up and drowning our sorrows with some stupid television show to “escape reality”. What are we doing??!!! Do we care about lost people dying and spending eternity in HELL!?? No, we don’t! We don’t love souls like GOD loves them! But we can! We can be conformed to the image and likeness of Christ and have our minds renewed so that we think like HE does! We have to want to though.
We have our Annual Old Fashioned Tent Revival coming up again in a couple of weeks and I want the LORD to revive me! I want the LORD to revive my husband! I want the LORD to save my son! I want the LORD to get my husband and I on fire for HIM again! I want the LORD to grow our church and help us to make a difference in Pagosa Springs! But, am I really willing to do what it takes to achieve those goals? I haven’t been lately. Actually I haven’t been for a long time. I’ve gotten comfortable, too comfortable. I haven’t been going out of my way to tell others about Christ lately. I have grown weary in well doing and have grown cold and uncaring. I have been a terrible witness and I am ashamed of myself. I have allowed the dark cloud of depression to hover over me for far too long and it has overstayed it’s welcome! It’s no secret that I am struggling with a number of things and have been for a long time now. It’s not an excuse for my behavior and my apathy. I am begging GOD to change my heart and revive me!! I hope you will do the same!
We can’t have an impact on this town, this county, this state, this country, or this world, until we look deep down in our hearts and ask GOD to revive us! We need to repent of our sins (now I am talking to already SAVED people here) and we need to get back to our first love (Jesus Christ!) We need to spend time praying and fasting and really get a hold of GOD! We want HIM to know we’re serious! Attending a Tent Revival is not going to change your life unless you prepare your heart for what GOD wants to teach you ahead of time! It’s just like attending a church, sitting in the pew won’t save your soul! Reading the bible won’t do it either. Sitting in a Sunday School class or a bible study won’t save you either. Giving money or your time won’t save your soul. Even believing that God exists or that Jesus died on the cross won’t save you!
You have to make the choice to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as YOUR Saviour! You have to believe that HE died for YOUR sins!
